*******HOME COMING SCOTLAND*******This is a great time to visit , the year of the Homecoming. For more information visit the links page.LossiemouthLocated at the heart of the Scottish riviera in Morayshire, Lossiemouth, Jewel of Moray, makes a perfect base to explore this wonderful area. With a climate which is recognised as not conforming to the norms of Scotland there are plenty of opportunities to spend time on the miles of safe, clean sandy beaches. You can walk along the coast or on the local forest and woodland trails which are plentiful and suit all abilities. As we are only an hours drive from Aviemore and the famous Cairngorm mountains these walks can be extended to the very adventurous. Not to be missed is a trip to see the Reindeers (the only wild herd in the country). For the sporty golf abounds with some of the best links courses in the country within easy reach. There are two immediately opposite the flats. There is also the opportunity to go game fishing in one of the many lochs and captive waters within a short drive from Lossiemouth or sea fish from one of the two beaches. You can book a boat trip from any of the harbours along the coast for deep sea fishing. From Lossiemouth and Buckie boat trips are also available to see the Dolphins and seals at certain times of the year. The Moray Firth has one of the largest pods of Bottle Nose dolphins in Europe. A thriving seaside community seven miles from the county town of Elgin, Lossiemouth was once a mainly fishing village. The harbour has been developed into a large marina with boats of all sizes moored. Two extensive beaches offer miles of fine clean sand and safe bathing in waters warmed by the gulf stream. Childrens' play areas and a sport and leisure centre along with two football pitches cater for the energetic. Or relax at one of the many cafés, restaurants and friendly bars. The newly opened Youth and Internet café ensure all tastes are catered for. |
